UNC-Pitt basketball live blog, updates

After a brief trip to South Florida, the UNC basketball team is right back where it belongs on Saturday afternoon: in the Dean Dome.

North Carolina (19-5, 7-4 ACC) is hoping for better fortunes in its return home, hosting the ACC-worst Pitt Panthers for a 2 p.m. tip-off. The Tar Heels are still in a strong position for ACC and postseason contention, even without Caleb Wilson, but Pitt (9-16, 2-10 ACC) will likely miss the NCAA Tournament for a third-straight season.

Good news: UNC should be able to get a fairly sizable victory today, something needed in the worst way after Tuesday's 75-66 loss at Miami. Life without Wilson will be awkward at first, but a game like Saturday's allows Hubert Davis to experiment with his lineups.

The Duke hangover is gone – and North Carolina will come out strong. The Panthers hope to play spoiler, so the Tar Heels have to be on their toes.

As you're watching today's game, make sure you're following along here throughout for live updates.

Could be some bad news for UNC today...

Henri Veesaar, the ACC's leader in double-doubles, is expected to take on a major workload in Wilson's absence. If Veesaar is unable to go, Zayden High will likely play a full 40 minutes, particularly given no James Brown and Ivan Matlekovic.

UNC vs. Pitt prediction, picks, odds

The Tar Heels are fresh off a Tuesday night loss, but they remain a perfect 14-0 in Chapel Hill. Enter Pitt, which has just one road win.

This is exactly the type of trap game North Carolina needs to avoid. UNC will not have Wilson, but needs to realize there are plenty other contributors across the roster.

The Tar Heels should win this one easily.

Score prediction: UNC 84, Pitt 67

Spread:UNC -11.5

Total: O/U 144.5

Moneyline: Pitt +500, UNC -700
