A huge moment on opening day of the 2026 college baseball season turned to gloom for Seton Hall.
In the bottom of the fifth inning of the Puerto Rico Challenge in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Pirates utility player Justin Ford crushed a two-run home run to give Seton Hall a 4-3 lead over Boston College. While rounding first base, he suffered what looked to be a devastating injury (Warning: video contains disturbing content).
He collapsed along the base track between first and second base and was replaced by a pinch runner to complete his home run.
"Ford injured himself while rounding the bases," Seton Hall's baseball X (formerly Twitter) account said in a post. "Please join us in sending Justin best wishes and a speedy recovery."
