Recap

1st Inning

UCLA got on the board first, with a one out homerun from the Bruin’s Megan Grant. Luckily, it was only a solo shot and Bella Dimitrijevic was able to get out of the inning with just the lone run.

In the bottom of the inning, the FSU offense went up against the ace of the UCLA staff, Taylor Tinsley. Coming out swinging, both Isa Torres and Marin Heller reached on singles. With two on, a Jaysoni Beachum single brought home the equalizer.

Beachum and Heller on base, Ashtyn Danley doubled up the middle off of Tinsley. The two RBI double made it 3-1, and FSU had the momentum swinging their way.

2nd Inning

Dimitrijevic cruised through the second inning, and her offense picked up where they left off the previous inning. A one out triple off the bat of Angelee Bueno put a runner in scoring position for the top of the lineup. Torres came up with a big two run homerun to push the lead.

Still with one out, Heller doubled, brining up Beachum. The junior third baseman kept the inning going with a two run shot of her own, making it 7-1.

3rd Inning

Dimitrijevic had baserunners this inning, allowing the lead off on base, and soon loading the bases. A fielder’s choice gave UCLA a run, making it 7-2.

FSU was able to get the run back in the bottom of the inning, after Bueno and Torres both reached with two outs. Heller’s night kept going as she drove in the two runners on base. Following the RBI’s, Beachum homered off of relief pitcher Natalie Cable, for her second long ball of the night.

4th Inning

Trying to catch up to the Seminoles, UCLA had two runners on with no outs. Still facing Dimitrijevic, a hard hit single gave the Bruins a run. A sacrifice fly and double bled into the ‘Noles lead, and a fielder’s choice added the fourth run of the inning.

6th Inning

Now 11-6, Jazzy Francik returned to the circle, after relieving Dimitrijevic in the 4th inning. A single and walk from the Bruins gave traffic for Francik, and a single gave UCLA another run. The RBI was the only one of the inning for Francik, as the new score became 11-7.

7th Inning

Still in the circle, Francik needed to limit UCLA’s chances. After a fly out, she got back to back strikeouts to secure the top 10 win.
