The countdown to March Madness is on and the Florida Gators are surging toward the postseason in hopes of defending their national title.
Winners of three straight and nine of their last 10, Todd Golden's team has found ways to dominate their opponents both at home and on the road. The margin of victory during the recent streak has been plus-30 points, although that stat is padded by a 47-point slaughtering of the South Carolina Gamecocks two weeks ago.
With the NCAA Tournament coming up on the horizon, the Orange and Blue is still a No. 3 seed in USA TODAY Sports' bracketology update, but have moved from the South back to the Midwest. There, Florida is matched up with the No. 14-seeded Portland State Vikings in the first round held in Tampa.

Top seeds in USA TODAY Sports' 2026 bracketology
The UConn Huskies were replaced with the Houston Cougars as a No. 1 seed in this bracketology update after the former's loss to the St. John's Red Storm on Friday night. The 2025 national champion-runner-ups join the Arizona Wildcats, who remain at the top of the West, along with the Duke Blue Devils in the East and Michigan Wolverines in the South.
SEC schools in USA TODAY Sports' 2026 bracketology
The Southeastern Conference held onto its 10 teams in the latest bracketology once again, remaining just one school short of the Big Ten's 11, two more than the ACC's eight and three more than the Big 12's seven representatives among the Power Four conferences.
Florida remains the top-seeded SEC school with the No. 3 spot in the Midwest, followed by a trio of peers with a No. 5 seed in the Vanderbilt Commodores (West), Tennessee Volunteers (South) and Alabama Crimson Tide (East). The rest of the conference lineup consists of the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 6, West), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 7, South), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 8, South), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 9, East), Auburn Tigers (No. 9, Midwest) and Texas Longhorns (No. 10, East).
The Missouri Tigers are no longer the final team among the first four out, but are still in that same category.
