Get ready to hear Roger Maltbie's voice at multiple PGA Tour events this season.
The famous on-course reporter is returning to Golf Channel for select events in 2026, starting at this week's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Maltbie will call the action at five Tour events in addition to this week as lead on-course reporter, also appearing at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, Cadillac Championship and the Memorial Tournament, which will be the 50th anniversary of Maltbie's win in the inaugural Memorial in 1976. Golf Channel confirmed Maltbie's return with Golfweek.
"I’m excited that they still want me to do this, and I guess they feel like I am still someone viewers want to listen to," the 74-year-old Maltbie told Golf Digest. "The bottom line is that I want to keep going because I’m a fan of the game. I watch a good bit of it from home, and I look forward to getting up close and seeing all these new guys and how they play."
Maltbie, who was let go from full-time duties at Golf Channel following the 2023 season after he and Gary Koch had their roles reduced for that season, has returned sparingly for events since stepping away from full-time duties, including at last year's Players Championship.
During two of the weeks, including at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Maltbie will work with the CBS Sports crew on the weekend, which will be a career first.
"That’s something I am really looking forward to, working with Jim Nantz and the CBS team, because it’s something I’ve never done before. We’ve been on opposite deals, so that’s going to be interesting," Maltbie told Golf Digest. "You know, this is what I like to do. And I do what I’m told to do. Maybe that’s why they still use me some."
Tom Knapp, Golf Channel's executive vice president and general manager, contacted Maltbie in December to see whether he would want to return, Golf Digest reported.
"Having the familiar tone of Roger Maltbie on the call for Golf Channel as our lead on-course reporter at these iconic venues is going to be tremendous," Knapp said. "Roger is one of the most recognizable figures in golf and set the standard for on-course golf reporting for 35 years. He is an institution, and we’re pumped to have him."
Maltbie will also have roles at the U.S. Open, U.S. Senior Open, Senior PGA Championship and the American Century Championship.
