Where do the Sooners land in the Softball America's updated rankings?

The Oklahoma Sooners opened the 2026 college softball season going 3-1 on the road in Arizona, including a series win over the No. 17 Arizona Wildcats over the weekend. The Sooners earned a come-from-behind victory on Sunday to close the opening week on a high note.

The Sooners hit an astounding 15 home runs in the opening week, including seven in a 21-3 romp on Saturday night. Though the Sooners closed the week with a winning record, the folks over at Softball America dropped OU back a spot to No. 4 in the nation.

The Volunteers moved up to No. 2 in the nation after opening the week 5-0 with ranked wins over No. 5 Oregon, No. 21 Liberty, and also defeating BYU, Rutgers, and Boston College.

Texas Tech is the new No. 1 after going 6-0, earning a win over No. 11 Texas A&M.

Texas also dropped in the rankings from No. 1 to No. 3. They went 5-1 this week with a loss to Nebraska, led by Jordy Frahm (formerly Jordy Bahl).

10 SEC teams make up the top 25, including seven of the top 11.

The Oklahoma Sooners are back in action this weekend in Las Cruces, New Mexico in the New Mexico Tournament. They'll open the tournament on Friday at 11 a.m. CT against Montana.
