Ex-Bucks player Patrick Beverley cleared of criminal wrongdoing in sister's assault

Former Milwaukee Bucks player Patrick Beverley will not face charges in connection to the violent assault of his 15-year-old sister.

The attorneys for the popular Barstool Sports podcast host announced Feb. 23 that a grand jury in Fort Bend County, Texas, no-billed the former NBA player, meaning it did not believe there was enough evidence to bring charges.

"Several months ago, we said that when all the information was in – when a grand jury could hear all the facts of this case – Patrick Beverley would be cleared of all charges," attorneys Rusty Hardin and Letitia Quinones-Hollins said in a statement.

Beverley, who briefly played for the Bucks during his final season in the NBA (2023-24), was arrested in November.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Beverley became irate after his sister left her home without permission during the night hours to meet up with her 18-year-old boyfriend.

Beverly's sister told a sheriff's deputy the night of the incident that he grabbed her by her neck with both hands, picked her up off the ground, and squeezed her neck for 20 to 30 seconds, according to the affidavit.

The 15-year-old added he punched her and threatened to kill her, the affidavit states. Authorities said they found markings on the girl's neck and burst blood vessels in the whites of her eye.

Beverley immediately denied the allegations and his attorneys said his sister made the allegations while emotions were high.

On Feb. 23, Beverley's attorneys said their client "wants everyone to know that he would never do anything to harm his sister."

"(Beverley) is glad that the process was allowed to work as it did and his hope is that with these charges behind him now, his name and reputation will be restored," they added.
