District 3 Class 5A boys basketball: Exeter stays alive for PIAA playoff berth

Braylon Reinert, Dylan Donate and Jayden Ware combined for 46 points as Exeter kept its state boys basketball playoff hopes alive with a 65-43 win over Greencastle-Antrim in the District 3 Class 5A consolations on Tuesday.

Exeter plays the winner of the Northern-Red Land game on Thursday for the ninth place, the district’s last berth in PIAA tournament.

Reinert had 16 points and Donate and Ware 15 each for the Eagles (17-10).

After losing in the first round of the district tourney to drop down the consolation bracket, the Eagles have won twice to stay alive.

The game was tied at 15 after the first quarter, as Donate had 5 points and Reinert 4. Antrim’s Cooper Green had 8 points in the first quarter.

Exeter began to pull away in the second quarter, taking a 32-21 lead. Donate had 6 points and Ware 4 in that period.

The Eagles extended the lead to 47-30 entering the final period, as Ware had 5 points and Reinert 4.
