Projected First-Round RB Professes Longtime Love For Steelers Organization

Notre Dame runningback Jeremiyah Love is one of the most hyped prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft. He put himself on the map in the 2024 college football season, rushing for more than 1,100 yards and tallying 19 total touchdowns. Love followed up this effort with an even better 2025 campaign, totalling more than 1,600 yards and 21 touchdowns on his way to becoming a Heisman finalist.

He is now making the rounds in the media as he takes his next steps towards becoming an NFL ball carrier. In his latest interview with CNBC Sports, the St. Louis, Mo., native confessed that he grew up a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

“I was a big fan of Ben Roethlisberger,” Love said. “The Steelers were my team; I was born into it. My mom and dad are Steelers fans, so it just kind of fell onto me.”

Love is ranked second on ESPN’s Mel Kiper’s big board and has been mocked as high as No. 3 overall to the Arizona Cardinals.

But after last year’s sixth overall draft pick, Ashton Jeanty, only rushed for 975 yards in his rookie season, it feels less likely that a team will be as willing to use a top-tier draft choice on a running back.

Love spoke about the potential of becoming a Steelers draft pick, even if he is mocked some-20 picks before the Steelers No. 21 pick.

“That would be great for my parents,” Love said. “They would love that… But me personally, I’m blessed and honored to go anywhere.”
