The Winter Olympics is well underway in Italy, and plenty of tennis stars have been keeping an eye on proceedings while competing on the ATP and WTA Tours.
Jannik Sinner, Rafael Nadal, and Carlos Alcaraz sent their well wishes to Lindsey Vonn following her crash in the skiing.
Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, has been taking in the action in Italy, leaving several of the competitors starstruck.
As tennis and the Winter Olympics continues to crossover, Jasmine Paolini has shared which sport she’d like to take up when she hangs up her racket.
Jasmine Paolini says she wants to ski after appearance at the Winter Olympics
Speaking at the Qatar Open, the Italian admitted: “I always say I want to try to ski, but I have never done this before.”
However, she said she had no plans to take up the sport concurrently with her tennis career, due to fear of injury.
The top ten star revealed: “I’m going to wait until my retirement to try that, not before, because it’s too dangerous [laughing].”
Paolini was a major factor in the build-up to the Winter Olympics, which is being hosted by Milano-Cortina.
The star carried the Olympic flame in the lead-up to the event, which the Italian described as an honour.
“To carry the Olympic flame was a privilege, and I felt really honored to be part of the journey,” Paolini said.
“I wish all the organisations, the athletes in Italy good luck for these Olympic Games. It’s always good to have them at home, and I think it’s a really good thing for our country.”
Figure skater reacts to Novak Djokovic’s attendance at the Winter Olympics
United States figure skater Ilia Malinin has plenty to celebrate after winning gold for the United States in the team event.
The star was arguably more jubilant after noticing Djokovic in the crowd for one of the biggest moments of his career.
Speaking about seeing Djokovic in the crowd, Malinin revealed: “After I landed my backflip, he was standing there, hands on his head, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, that’s incredible.'”
Djokovic has also publicly backed Canadian skater Ivanie Blondin Nagy as he soaks in the incredible action in Italy.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion is taking a break from tennis after reaching the final of the Australian Open.
It is currently unclear when the star will return to action, with Djokovic opting for a less demanding schedule in the twilight of his career.
