It was another dominant performance by Florida basketball on Sunday night, smothering a Texas A&M Aggies team on their own home court in an 86-67 rout to claim sole possession of the SEC's top spot. It is the first time since 2014 that the Gators sit perched alone atop the conference.
Unsurprisingly, Todd Golden's gang is also the top-ranked league school in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, moving up a pair of spots to No. 14. There, the Orange and Blue is bookended by the No. 13 North Carolina Tar Heels and No. 15 Virginia Cavaliers.
Eight games remain on the regular-season schedule for Florida, with a rematch against the Georgia Bulldogs coming up on Wednesday night in Athens. The Gators prevailed in their first meeting this season, 92-77, inside the O'Connell Center on Jan. 6.
SEC schools in Coaches Poll top 25 after Week 14
Only three Southeastern Conference schools appear in this week's top 25, headlined by Florida at No. 14. The Vanderbilt Commodores fell five spots to No. 20 and the Arkansas Razorbacks held onto the No. 21 position.
The Kentucky Wildcats and Alabama Crimson Tide sit in the de facto Nos. 26 and 27 spots with 30 and 24 votes, respectively, while the Tennessee Volunteers earned 10. Texas A&M fell out of the top 25 with just seven votes after the loss on Saturday and Georgia clings to three of its own.
