Bayern Munich and centre back Dayot Upamecano have agreed a long-term contract extension after protracted talks.
His deal, which was set to expire in June, will now run until June 30, 2030. The 27-year-old can look forward to a significant pay rise.
"Dayot Upamecano is another central figure in our team who we’ve been able to extend with," board member for sport Max Eberl said in a statement on Friday.
"A squad needs anchor points, and we’ve got the next with Dayot. The question often isn’t who you sign but who you develop. Dayot has matured into a top international player here at Bayern. We’re looking forward to continuing our journey together."
France defender Upamecano moved from RB Leipzig to Bayern in 2021. He had recently been in the sights of several top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Bayern negotiations dragged but he is now pleased to concentrate fully on football again.
"I’m really happy to be staying at Bayern and continuing to play in this team. We’ve got a great team and a great coach. We’ve got big goals together," he said.
"In life, it’s always about mentality. I give my all for my team-mates, in every training session, want to keep a clean sheet in every game and want to win as many titles as possible with Bayern."
