Richard Hughes and Arne Slot dropped the ball by not signing Kvicha Kvaratskhelia
Although Kvicha Kvaratskhelia is now one of Paris Saint-Germain's most important players, he could've been the star of Liverpool's team.
Before he joined the Ligue 1 giants, Liverpool and PSG were the two teams linked with a move for the Georgian.
Initially, Napoli didn't want to move the attacker on but, by the time the January transfer window came around, it was clear that the 25-year-old had his heart set on an exit.
David Ornstein initially linked the Reds with an interest in the attacker last season but a move never came to fruition due to Liverpool not wanting to overspend in January.
However, now that we're over halfway into the 2025-26 campaign, it's clear that a new left-winger should've been on top of Hughes' priority list, especially if he knew Luis Diaz was going to be exiting in the following summer.
Kvicha Kvaratskehlia would've been a perfect transfer for Liverpool
Although Rio Ngumoha has recently burst onto the scene at Liverpool, it's clear that Slot still trusts Cody Gakpo more than the youngster.
The Dutchman has put in the odd good performance here and there but more often than not, he's left an awful lot to be desired.
Whether that's because there's no competition for his place in the team anymore or whether he's just in a bad run of form, it's clear that something needs to change on Liverpool's left wing.
And, even though Kvaratskehlia would've ended up costing the Anfield outfit around £60 million, compared to the price they're being quoted for Yan Diomande, the Georgian would've been an absolute steal.
Since joining PSG, the attacker has played in 60 games and has managed to contribute to 30 goals across all competitions with 14 of them coming this season.
There's obviously no knowing whether he'd have adapted to Premier League life as quickly as he has in Ligue 1 but, one thing is for sure, if he was a Liverpool player right now, fans would feel much better about their chances of winning the Champions League.
