A lawyer for Franck Ribéry has denied allegations involving the former French footballer which became public through the Jeffrey Epstein files.
One of Epstein's victims living in France allegedly stated in a letter to the US judiciary that Ribéry had tried to hit her, French media reports said on Tuesday.
Ribéry's lawyer, Carlo Alberto Brusa, told several French media outlets that the allegations made public by the recent release of documents related to the Epstein case were a fabrication and a defamation campaign against numerous people. He said the letter to the US authorities was sent to cause trouble.
Was there an incident in the woman's garden?
The mere fact that a person is mentioned somewhere in the millions of documents related to the Epstein case does not mean that they were involved in the paedophile's abuse ring.
In her letter to the US judiciary, the woman reportedly spoke of an incident in her garden in western France.
The US multimillionaire financier Epstein, who died in 2019, operated an abuse ring for years, victimizing dozens of young women and girls.
At the same time, he maintained close contacts with the highest circles in politics, business and science.
Ribéry starred for the French national side at two FIFA World Cups and became one of the world's best players during his long spell at Bayern Munich before retiring in 2022.
