The San Francisco 49ers have several players set to hit free agency this offseason, including three who will have their contracts voided on Friday.
Wide receiver Jauan Jennings, defensive lineman Jordan Elliott and defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos all had at least three void years added to their contracts to make it more manageable in recent years.
However, with all three contracts voiding at the same time, the 49ers will take on $14.46 million in dead cap on Friday, per Spotrac. Jennings' cap hit is $8.11 million, Elliott's is $1.4 million and Gross-Matos' is $4.96 million.
This will bring San Francisco's dead cap total to over $36 million for 2026 already, and we're just five days after the Super Bowl.
The 49ers now have $25.54 million in projected cap space to make their trades and signings (including draft picks) in 2026.
San Francisco could re-sign any of these three to help with the dead cap situation, but Jennings would likely be the player they have the most interest in bringing back for 2026, considering his impact this past year.
