Inter Milan Coach Cristian Chivu Refuses To Get Involved With Contemporaries’ Complaints: ‘Referees Are Not The Problem’

Cristian Chivu struck a defiant and focused tone ahead of Inter Milan’s Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus.

According to Corriere della Sera, via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri coach appeared more intense than in previous high-profile build-ups this season.

His energy reflects the magnitude of the occasion as Inter approach a decisive stage of their campaign.

However, Chivu made his strongest comments when addressing the debate surrounding refereeing in Italian football.

He distanced himself from the complaints voiced by several fellow coaches.

“I do not think the problem in Italian football is referees,” Chivu said.

“If the national team has not reached the World Cup since 2014, there are other reasons. I will discuss the issue when I see a coach apologise for a refereeing mistake in their favour.”

The Romanian tactician also stressed personal responsibility and improvement rather than blame.

“I do not talk about it because I do not see ghosts,” he added. “I am used to looking at my players to understand where they can improve. Inter chose me to find solutions, not to complain.”

His remarks appear to contrast with recent criticism from other high-profile managers, but they also underline his pragmatic approach.

As a result, Chivu enters tonight’s showdown focused on performance, accountability and solutions rather than external controversy.
