Alonso Rejects Marseille Manager Role

Xabi Alonso has declined Olympique de Marseille's offer to become their new manager, according to RMC Sport.

Despite approaching the former Liverpool midfielder following Roberto De Zerbi's departure, Marseille must now look elsewhere for a new coach. Alonso reportedly rejected the offer due to concerns about the unstable environment at the club, which has also seen sporting director Medhi Benatia leave.

Among the potential replacements mentioned are Habib Beye, who recently managed Stade Rennais FC, and Sérgio Conceição, currently coaching Al-Ittihad Club. The managerial position at Marseille remains open following De Zerbi's exit, which came despite a successful first season that ended with a second-place finish in Ligue 1.
