The Montreal Canadiens clinched a playoff spot after a 5-3 shootout win over the Devils on Saturday, but the next night they fell 3-0 to the same opponent. Jacob Markstrom earned his first season shutout, while Cody Glass and Timo Meier scored for New Jersey. Connor Brown added an empty‑net goal and Jack Hughes had two assists.
