The 2026 power unit regulations prescribe an engine compression ratio of 16:1, down from 18:1 last year. This compression ratio has traditionally been measured at ambient temperature when the engine isn't running.
F1 Manufacturers to Vote on Engine Test Changes
F1's five power unit manufacturers will vote on a proposed tweak to engine compression ratio measurement methods, which could be implemented during the summer break.
