Hendricken, Pilgrim Honor Tragedy on Ice

In the wake of the Feb. 16 Pawtucket tragedy, Bishop Hendricken and Pilgrim high school hockey teams honored the victims with orange awareness gear and a shared moment of silence before their Division I matchup.

Hendricken secured a 2-1 victory over Pilgrim on Friday, but the score was secondary to the somber unity displayed on the ice. The Hawks and Patriots took time during practice to discuss evacuation routes and shared the center circle for a pregame silence.

Players like Ethan Sykora added orange tape to their sticks to support the Shoulder Check mental health program, emphasizing the need to reach out to those suffering. "Gun violence in general needs to end," Sykora said. "There's no place for it."
