Heraskevych Files Urgent CAS Appeal Over Helmet Disqualification

Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych has filed an urgent appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport over his disqualification for wearing a helmet honoring fellow athletes who died during Russia's invasion.

Heraskevych argues the decision is disproportionate and unsupported by any technical or safety violation. The CAS ad hoc division has appointed a sole arbitrator to consider the matter with urgency.

He missed the first two runs of the men's skeleton competition and requested provisional supervised runs to compete pending a decision, though the IOC had previously offered a black armband instead of the helmet.
