Judge to hear Sandusky recantation claims

A judge has granted a hearing to explore claims that a man wants to recant allegations of sexual abuse against former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

The man claims he was coached extensively by authorities, but Pennsylvania officials say the recantation is 'highly suspect.' Sandusky, 82, has been serving a decades-long prison sentence since his 2012 conviction on 45 counts of sexual abuse, with eight young men testifying about what happened to them as boys.

Sandusky has repeatedly lost efforts to get a new trial, but his lawyers are attempting to appeal again. The upcoming hearing will determine whether the recantation claims have merit. mchezo.co.za
