Kansas State Fires Jerome Tang

Kansas State has fired men's basketball coach Jerome Tang 'for cause' and will not honor his $18.7 million buyout.

Despite his 103-win record and an Elite Eight appearance in 2023, Kansas State terminated Jerome Tang's tenure as head coach. The Wildcats (10-15, 1-12) have struggled under Tang, failing to reach the NCAA Tournament in all but one season since his 2022 hiring.

The program is now seeking a new coach, with Illinois' Brad Underwood already mentioned as a potential replacement. Athletic Director Gene Taylor cited recent public comments and program direction as factors in the decision, while Tang expressed disappointment and disagreed with the characterization of his termination.
