Mariota Out with Knee Injury, Colts Lead Commanders

Published October 4, 2026 · Updated October 4, 2026 · NBC Sports

Marcus Mariota has been ruled out for the remainder of the game against the Colts after suffering an MCL injury in his right knee.

The Commanders are now without their starting quarterback after the injury, which is a re-injury to the same knee that required surgery in 2022. Seventh-round rookie Athan Kaliakmanis has replaced Mariota and is struggling, with the Colts leading 17-6 in the third quarter. forestarrow.rest
