Mariota to Start for Injured Daniels

Published October 2, 2026 · Updated October 2, 2026 · Fox Sports

Marcus Mariota will make his second consecutive start for the Commanders as Jayden Daniels remains sidelined with a dislocated elbow.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Marcus Mariota will start against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, with Daniels wearing a protective brace after returning to practice this week. Daniels suffered the elbow injury in Week 2 against the Cowboys.

Mariota performed well in last week's win over Seattle, throwing three touchdown passes. Daniels, who had the same injury last season, expressed no concerns about re-injuring the elbow. The Commanders also signed running back Austin Ekeler this week as Rachaad White (shoulder) continues to miss practice. tr-sport.click
