Orioles call up Gibson to start vs. Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles will activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the New York Yankees on Sunday, manager Craig Albernaz confirmed.

The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked as Baltimore's No. 3 prospect by MLB.com and Baseball America, is being called up from Triple-A to help fill a depleted rotation. The Orioles are currently without Trevor Rogers (illness), Dean Kremer (quad) and Zach Eflin (elbow) among 12 players on the injured list.

Gibson, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has a 4.01 ERA in Triple-A this season with 25 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings. He'll face Max Fried in his major league debut. freshyourfeel.org
