Russell Wilson Retires, Joins CBS

Russell Wilson has officially announced his retirement from the NFL via social media and confirmed he will join CBS as an analyst on The NFL Today.

Wilson, a third-round pick in 2012, made the announcement in a video posted on Wednesday. He spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks, making nine Pro Bowls, before playing for the Broncos, Steelers, and Giants in his final three seasons. The Jets had interest in adding him as a backup to Geno Smith. librea.one

Throughout his career, Wilson won a Super Bowl and was the highest-paid player in the NFL twice. Despite choosing television over continuing to play, his Hall of Fame candidacy will be debated in the years to come, with former Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty previously placing him in the second tier of NFL quarterbacks during their overlapping careers.
