Tariq Francis scored 21 points and Harun Zrno added 13 with three 3-pointers as Rutgers defeated Maryland 68-57 on Sunday, lifting the Scarlet Knights out of the Big Ten cellar. Francis made 12 of 13 free throws.
Rutgers (10-15, 3-11 Big Ten) improved to 3-1 in conference games at home. Maryland (10-15, 3-11) had won two in a row before the loss. Both teams are one win clear of last place in the conference.
