Rutgers Lands Four-Star Guard Chikae Desdunes

Rutgers women's basketball has secured the commitment of four-star guard Chikae Desdunes, marking the first signee of the Gary Redus era.

Desdunes, ranked No. 57 in the 247Sports Composite, originally committed to Penn State last October before reopening her recruitment in March. She chose the Scarlet Knights over offers from programs like Auburn, Baylor, and Purdue.

The 5-foot-9 guard is known as a sharpshooter, shooting 42% from the field and 37% from three-point range last season at DME Academy. Her decision highlights the importance of coaching relationships, a focus emphasized by new head coach Gary Redus during his introductory press conference.
