The Secret Struggle of Incontinence During Pregnancy

It's a little-talked-about topic, but one that affects many women during pregnancy: incontinence. It can be an uncomfortable and embarrassing issue, but it's important to know that you're not alone. Incontinence during pregnancy is more common than you might think, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.

My Personal Story: No worry with my first pregnancy, however, during my second pregnancy, I was taken aback when I started experiencing bladder leakage while laughing or coughing. I felt embarrassed and ashamed, as if my body had failed me. I didn't talk about it with anyone, not even my doctor. It wasn't until after I gave birth that I learned about the commonality of light bladder leakage during pregnancy, and how to cope with it.

With my third pregnancy, I was better prepared. 😆 I talked to my gynecologist, who reassured me that this was a normal condition and that there were things I could do to manage it. Bear with me, I will give you my tips later on.

Why Does Incontinence Happen During Pregnancy?

During pregnancy, your body goes through a lot of changes, and one of the most significant changes is the pressure put on your bladder. As your baby grows, your uterus expands and puts pressure on your bladder, which can lead to leaks. Additionally, the hormones released during pregnancy can relax the muscles that control your bladder, making it more difficult to hold urine.

But don't worry, incontinence during pregnancy is usually temporary and will often improve after giving birth. In fact, studies show that up to 50% of women who experience incontinence during pregnancy will see improvement within 6 months after giving birth.

How Can You Manage Incontinence During Pregnancy?

There are several ways to manage incontinence during pregnancy, and the first step is to talk to your healthcare provider. They can help determine the severity of your incontinence and recommend appropriate treatment options.

In addition to medical treatment, there are some simple lifestyle changes you can make to help manage your incontinence. For example, try limiting your fluid intake before bedtime, practicing pelvic floor exercises (such as Kegels), and using absorbent products like period panties. Review: "Tested in the toughest conditions.

I purchased these menstrual panties for the postpartum period. The first endurance test was on the way to the maternity ward. It wasn't until I arrived in the doctor's office that I realized they held an impressive amount of amniotic fluid, keeping the reception area clean and my image spotless :) Afterwards, I wore them continuously for a month and they performed excellently. They are incredibly comfortable and show no signs of wear and tear after this intense wearing period. Very satisfied and happy to have found them."

Review: "I had put away my period panties because I was pregnant with my third child. I took them out again in my second trimester and they've been saving my everyday life ever since! I have issues with incontinence whenever I cough, and with the arrival of pollen, I have lots of allergies, which caused embarrassing leaks. Now I wear a menstrual panty every day at work. It's super comfortable, and I feel confident!"
