Former coach reveals potential problem with new Chiefs midfielder
Former Kaizer Chiefs co-head coach Cedric Kaze says Amakhosi’s new Tanzanian signing Adolf Bitegeko needs to overcome recent injury issues if he is to be a success at Naturena.
Chiefs announced on Tuesday that defensive midfielder Bitegeko had signed from Tanzanian giants Azam FC.
Kaze knows Bitegeko from his time coaching Azam’s Tanzanian rivals Young Africans (Yanga). h-doctor.club
“I played against him a couple of times when I was at Yanga against Azam. He’s a good player, technically gifted and very intelligent,” Kaze told Sports Night Amplified with Andile Ncube.
“He hasn’t played a lot lately because of injuries, but when he’s healthy, he can be good for the team.”
Kaze left Chiefs at the end of the 2025/26 season along with co-head coach Khalil Ben Youssef. But the pair have remained in the Betway Premiership, with Kaze taking up the reins at Sekhukhune United and Ben Youssef at Durban City.
Chiefs have just returned from a pre-season trip to Spain, and will now face Zimbawean champions Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup on Sunday at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Stadium.
Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala Joins PUMA Family
Rising star Mduduzi Shabalala has joined the PUMA South Africa football family and features in the campaign for the new PUMA ULTRA 7 football boot.
“Mdu’s performances last season were impressive, and we believe that we are signing a player that will be in the forefront of SA football for many years to come, and who will drive on-pitch visibility of our ULTRA football boots” said Tshepo Mashishi, PUMA SA Teamhead – Teamsports Marketing.
“He is a player that has the talent to be a part of the SA national team and become one of the leaders when we are back on the world stage at the 2030 World Cup.”
The skilful 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who made his Bafana debut in October 2025, joins a glittering PUMA football lineup which includes Teboho Mokoena, Themba Zwane, Iqraam Rayners, Bathusi Aubaas, Malibongwe Khoza, Patrick Maswanganyi, Thapelo Morena, Sailor Mudau, and Mfundo Vilakazi.
Shabalala is excited to join the PUMA football family. “My decision was based on how well PUMA’s values, vision, and commitment to athletes align with my own goals and journey as a footballer. I push myself every day to improve, compete at the highest level, and make an impact on and off the pitch. I believe my ambition, work ethic, and passion for the game align perfectly with the brand.”
Looking forward to the new season, he said: “I want to improve my consistency, contribute more goals and assists, and continue developing all aspects of my game to help the team succeed.”
Shabalala will open the new season playing in the new PUMA ULTRA 7. “It’s lightweight, comfortable, and built for speed, which suits my style of play perfectly,” he said.
Active on social media, Shabalala likes to share moments from his football journey, training, match days, and parts of his life off the pitch. “It’s a way for me to connect with supporters, inspire young players, and give people a glimpse into who I am beyond football,” he said.

Sud de la RDC: la société civile pointe la présence persistante de militaires sur des sites miniers illégaux
Le commandant de la 22e région militaire basée dans le Katanga a annoncé le retrait de soldats d’un site minier, situé non loin de Kolwezi, suite à l’instruction donnée le 10 juillet par le président de la RDC sur ces installations illégales. Mais, sur le terrain, des sources locales affirment qu’aucun soldat n’a quitté les lieux. Depuis 2019, plusieurs décisions ont été prises par les autorités congolaises pour retirer les forces armées des périmètres miniers, sans résultat effectif. Les militaires sont souvent accusés non seulement de participer aux activités d'extraction illégale mais aussi de violation des droits humains.
James Rodriguez quitte déjà le Minnesota United après seulement six mois
L’histoire entre James Rodríguez et le Minnesota United aura été de courte durée. Arrivé en début d’année pour relever un nouveau défi en MLS, le milieu offensif colombien ne poursuivra pas l’aventure avec le club américain, qui a confirmé son départ après seulement six mois de collaboration.
