Felix Auger-Aliassime put Canada in the win column at the Monte-Carlo Masters.
After Denis Shapovalov and Gabriel Diallo lost in the opening round, Auger-Aliassime beat Croatian veteran Marin Cilic 7-6 (4), 6-3 on Tuesday at the clay-court event.
The sixth-seeded Auger-Aliassime, who got a bye in the first round, is now 4-3 all-time against Cilic.
The Montrealer saved two of five break points.
Auger-Aliassime will next face No. 9 seed Casper Ruud of Norway in the round of 16.
The Canadian leads the all-time series 4-3.
