After starting in central defence in the first leg in the Principality, the Dutch defender spoke to the media on the eve of the Champions League return leg against Paris Saint-Germain (21:00).
To try everything and have no regrets. That is the mindset with which the Red and Whites approach the second leg of the Champions League play-offs against PSG one week after the narrow 3–2 defeat suffered with 10 men against 11 at the foot of the Rock. It’s a message that Jordan Teze wanted to convey at the press conference on the eve of the clash at the Parc des Princes (kick-off 21:00). Excerpts. 🎙️
The comeback victory in Lens
That win in Lens gave us confidence, but that doesn’t mean it will be easier tomorrow. We showed a lot of character right until the end to turn the game around in a stadium where it’s difficult to play. It proves that we’re capable of doing the same thing at the Parc des Princes. As the coach said, we’ve carefully analysed the first leg and the previous matches. We’re ready for tomorrow.
Of course there’s extra motivation, but we have our own style of play and our tactics. PSG are strong, but so are we. We’re capable of fighting. We have a lot of quality within our squad. We’re more confident now, and we know we can put in a good performance.
Jordan TezeOn the motivation against PSG
The dynamic of the team
There’s a good dynamic among us, and that’s important. We’re ready as a group and moving in the same direction, even those who are currently getting less playing time. Tomorrow is the Champions League. Everyone is focused on that because it could be a magical match. We hope to win, and then we’ll see what happens next.
Playing PSG – Extra motivation?
Of course there’s extra motivation, but we have our own style of play and our tactics. PSG are strong, but so are we. We’re capable of fighting. We have a lot of quality within our squad. We’re more confident now, and we know we can deliver a good performance.
On his versatility
I played in different positions when I was younger, so it’s easier for me to switch. I feel comfortable. The coach has given me a lot of confidence and doesn’t criticise me if I make a bad pass or commit a foul. That really helps me. In any case, I always give 100% in any position. After that, it’s up to him to decide where to play me.
It’s really important to have them with us, especially as there will be so many of them. If they’re behind us, we’ll feel it and give even more. It will be a great match for the supporters. We’ll give our all and play to the fullest for them.
Ansu Fati‘s finishing
He has scored a lot of goals and is the club’s top scorer in Ligue 1. He’s a very good player and is excellent at finishing. I can even see it in training with Kevin (Mirallas). It’s great for the team to have a player on the bench who can change the course of the game in the last 30 minutes.
The connection with the supporters
It’s really important to have them with us, especially as there will be so many of them. If they’re behind us, we’ll feel it and give even more. It will be a great match for the supporters. We’ll give our all and play to the fullest for them.
