Tennessee Titans coach Robert Saleh has taken notice of quarterback Cam Ward’s work ethic this offseason.
Ward was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 23-year-old proved himself to be a quarterback capable of making a variety of throws last season, though his timing in the pocket, as well as his field awareness showed his weaknesses as a rookie. The Titans’ new coaching staff, headlined by coach Saleh, have spoken highly of Ward in their initial assessments of the Texas native as a player both on and off the field.
While addressing the media at the 2026 NFL Combine on Tuesday, Saleh raved about Ward’s work ethic being an early indicator of his potential for future success.
"A man who is built the way he is, who is wired the way he is, who works the way he does…it's very rare that those people don't find success,” Saleh said.
Ward has the 2026 season to improve upon the 3,169 yards he threw for at a 59.8 percent completion rate last season. He will be under the direction of coach Saleh, as well as the Titans’ new offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll, next season.
ESPN’s Turron Davenport stated that Saleh as well as Daboll are on one accord with Ward’s personal QB coach to refine his footwork this offseason.
Robert Saleh said he and Brian Daboll have been in touch with Cam Ward's personal QB coach. The footwork will be the focus with a goal of getting it in sync with the specific offense they'll run.

Ward has had the support of his coaching staff throughout the offseason. Tennessee’s plan of action for their franchise quarterback is in effect with months to go before training camp.
