According to HLN, Anderlecht have had initial discussions with former Newcastle, Wigan and Manchester City midfielder Antoine Sibierski about becoming the sides new Sporting Director. While the hunt for a new head coach has taken a number of turns, the side are also having to explore potential candidates to take over from Olivier Renard, who left just a few months after being given the role.
Sibierski is currently acting as Sporting Director for French side Troyes, who are top of Ligue 2 in France. It is hardly surprising that Sibierski is at Troyes, given his history with Manchester City and the fact that the French team are part of the City Group. However, Troyes have had a mixed time under the group, with Sibierski having helped turn things around at the club in recent months. Before joining Troyes, Sibierski also worked as a player agent, technical director at Lens, and assistant coach and interim head coach at Châteauroux.
Anderlecht aren’t the only side interested in the former Manchester City man. Nantes and Monaco are also said to be impressed by what he has done with Troyes. HLN reports that Sibierski is certainly showing some interest in the vacancy in Brussels.
