Joel Eriksson Ek‘s night ended early on Friday.
In the Minnesota Wild‘s game against the Utah Mammoth, Eriksson Ek was injured after taking a high stick to the face from Nick Schmaltz at the end of the second period.
Eriksson Ek was down on the ice in the aftermath and appeared to be in pain while he was attended to, later heading to the locker room and not returning for the third period.
Wild head coach Jon Hynes had no update on the centre following Minnesota’s 5-2 loss.
Eriksson Ek, 29, has 42 points (17 goals and 25 assists) in 54 games this season.
