Why did the Washington Commanders release center Tyler Biadasz? We speculated on why the Commanders may have released Biadasz, but ESPN's John Keim provided more clarity to the situation.
In a very succinct segment, Keim reported that the Commanders' decision to waive Biadasz was not about the salary cap. Keim expressed, "There's one key reason why Washington released center Tyler Biadasz on Thursday. It's not about the salary cap. It's about the cash."
Keim continued, "Biadasz did not have a strong 2025 season. And his performance did not warrant keeping him around at a salary cap hit of just under $11M. But the Commanders will save only about $2.8M in salary cap and they have already the fifth most space available in the NFL."

Many of us are wondering why the Commanders have not yet released Marshon Lattimore, when we all know that has been their plan all along, even prior to his arrest in January in Ohio. Keim then went there regarding Lattimore, "They can create approximately 18.5 million dollars more when they release corner Marshon Lattimore."
According to Keim, what was the major reason for the surprising Thursday night release of their starting center?
"The big factor with Biadasz? He was due $8.3M in cash. They can now allocate that money elsewhere in free agency, adding to their desire to be aggressive. Of course, some of that money will go to Biadasz's replacement. But keep this in mind, if Biadasz had been playing at a higher level, they wouldn't have made this move."
The move was made on February 26, and as of Sunday, Commanders starting quarterback Jayden Daniels has yet to make any statement regarding Biadasz's departure. But from what we know of Daniels, it will stay that way.
