Every year, the NFL Scouting Combine gives prospects the opportunity to boost their stock. Guys like Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough come into the process projected as day two or day three picks.
By the time the draft comes around, players like Dart and Shough find themselves in day-one conversations. The NFL Scouting Combine helped their cases as they landed in the first and second rounds, respectively.
This year, Penn State’s Drew Allar entered the process as a day-three projected pick. His disappointing senior season that ended with a major injury tanked his stock.

At one point last preseason, he was thought of as a top-five talent. Things have changed majorly since–but the tide might be shifting again.
The clear pecking order is Fernando Mendoza, followed by Ty Simpson. Mendoza is almost certainly the guaranteed number one overall pick.
Allar was in unknown territory with Garrett Nussmeier, Cade Klubnik, and Carson Beck. All of these quarterbacks aimed to boost their stock.
While Beck performed well despite a heckling crowd, Allar became the combine’s clear winner. He was interviewed by multiple teams and then took the field to throw for scouts and fans.

His throwing performance was strong. He was accurate, his arm was live, and his mechanics were looking cleaner than expected.

It’s football in shorts. However, Allar hasn’t thrown since November while he has rehabbed his surgically repaired ankle. Guys like Beck, Klubnik, and Beck all have performed since Allar’s season ended.
One thing is clear: Allar isn’t a day three pick. He should have been picked much sooner than that. His rough senior season is a piece of the puzzle, but it isn’t the whole picture.
Certainly, his play under pressure and sloppy mechanics are a big concern. However, he has all the tools scouts look for in a quarterback. Size, arm talent, and experience.
He appeared to interview well with teams and had a strong workout performance. Allar has made a case to rebound his stock.
