Lacey Snape is now recovering at home after Northampton Town Women's game against Sutton Coldfield had to be abandoned following what the club described as a "serious medical incident".
The visitors were leading 1-0 in added time when medical staff were sent onto the pitch to treat Snape, who had been used as a substitute by Northampton.
A post by the club on social media platform X said there appeared to be "significant concern" about Snape's condition and the referee decided the Women's National League Division One Midlands match could not continue.
She was later taken to hospital for further assessment, but discharged on Sunday evening.
"Lacey will continue her recovery with our medical and strength and conditioning staff and we look forward to seeing her back on the pitch soon," Northampton said on Monday morning.
"Thank you once again to both sets of medical staff and to everyone who sent their kind messages of support for Lacey."
