Bears insider believes Chicago could find trade partner for DJ Moore

There's been plenty of speculation about the future of Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore, who's been a popular trade candidate among analysts and fans alike. And with the trade market heating up before free agency, could Moore be on the move?

During the NFL Scouting Combine, general manager Ryan Poles sang Moore's praises and said that they'd like to keep Moore in Chicago. But listening to Poles, it sounded like a sales pitch to make it clear that Moore is on the trade block, which has everything to do with the Bears being over the salary cap and Moore's $28.5 million cap hit in 2026.

Given Moore's massive cap hit and contract, there was a belief that Chicago wouldn't be able to find a trade partner. But that's not the case, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, who reported that the Bears might be able to get a prime pick in return, should they want to go that route.

"One source was relatively confident the Bears could find a taker for Moore and might be able to get a Day 2 pick in return," Biggs wrote. "Perhaps some creativity would be required to swing a deal in which the Bears paid down some of the money. They would trade Moore only to try to improve in 2026. In my opinion, that doesn’t mean flipping him for a draft pick. That means trading him to create cap space with a clear plan for how to use the added space. The pick helps, but it would be about subtracting Moore to add a player the Bears believe can be of greater immediate help."

While he had his worst statistical season since joining Chicago, Moore played an integral part in the Bears offense down the stretch, especially with top wideout Rome Odunze sidelined with a stress fracture in his foot. Moore was responsible for two of the best touchdowns of the season in two different games against the Green Bay Packers. He's been a key veteran presence in the locker room and is Chicago's recent Walter Payton Man of the Year winner. But, when push comes to shove, this is a business.
