Barcelona captain De Jong sidelined for at least one month

Barcelona captain Frenkie de Jong is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, keeping him out for at least one month.

The Netherlands international midfielder could miss up to seven matches across all competitions following the injury setback during training. The absence comes as Barcelona had just gotten nearly a fully fit squad back together, with Pedri recently returning to action.

With De Jong sidelined, manager Hansi Flick will need to rely on players like Marc Bernal, Marc Casado, or even Eric García to partner Pedri in midfield. The Dutchman would sit out crucial matches including the Copa del Rey semi-final second leg vs Atletico Madrid and the Champions League Round of 16 tie.
