Celtics Sign 24-Year-Old Guard John Tonje to Two-Way Deal

The Boston Celtics have signed 24‑year‑old guard John Tonje to a two‑way contract, adding the former Utah Jazz pick to their roster.

Tonje, a 24‑year‑old guard from Wisconsin, posted 19.6 points per game in his final college season, earning consensus Second Team All‑American honors and Naismith semifinalist status. He was selected 53rd overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2025 NBA Draft and began his pro career with the Salt Lake City Stars in the G League.

After a brief trade to the Celtics in February 2026, Tonje spent time with the Maine Celtics before the club converted his deal to a 10‑day NBA contract. He made his debut on February 24 against Phoenix and scored his first NBA points on February 27 versus Brooklyn.
