Coolidge Athletics on Probation After Basketball Incident

Arizona's AIA has placed Coolidge High's entire athletics department on a 365-day probation due to taunting allegations during a boys basketball playoff game.

The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) has imposed a one-year probation on all Coolidge High School athletic teams following allegations of taunting during a Class 3A boys basketball playoff game against Chinle. The penalties include a playoff ban for all sports, with Coolidge currently appealing the decision.

The incident occurred during Coolidge's 64-53 quarterfinal victory over Chinle, with video evidence prompting an AIA investigation. State legislator Myron Tsosie has commented on the unfortunate events, which could result in forfeiture of Coolidge's scheduled state semifinal game against Snowflake if sanctions are upheld.
