New York Giants Release LB Bobby Okereke

The New York Giants have informed veteran linebacker Bobby Okereke that he will be released, saving the team $9 million in salary cap space.

The move is expected to become official when the new league year begins next week. Cutting Okereke, who turns 30 this summer, allows the Giants to clear a significant amount of cap room.

With new head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson taking over, the team plans to overhaul the position. Okereke led the team with 78 tackles last season and served as a captain.
