Ranked: Liverpool's left-wing transfer targets

Yan Diomande

Coming out on top in terms of transfer rumours is Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old has been in sparkling form for RB Leipzig since moving to the Bundesliga side from Leganes last year.

Ivory Coast international Diomande has scored eight goals and got six assists so far in his debut German season - and his potential to improve is immense.

An explosive one-v-one dribbler, a lethal finisher and provider of high-quality chances, Diomande is a name for right now let alone for the future.

Leipzig are likely to demand up to £87m for their special talent - who has been rated as Red Bull’s best prospect since Erling Haaland.

Diomande seemingly has a wish to move to Anfield - which could provide Liverpool with the transfer edge they need over other reported rivals such as Bayern Munich and Tottenham.

Mateus Mane

Then there’s Mateus Mane. He fits similar criteria to Diomande - being very young and having a high ceiling for growth.

Mane, 18, is the breakout star of the Premier League season - being a bright spot in a desperately disappointing Wolves campaign.

With Rob Edwards’ side set for relegation to the Championship there will soon be a lot of focus on Mane’s next destination. Wolves will be expecting to receive around £50m for Mane - who remains eligible for both England and Portugal at international level.

This season he has featured across a range of attacking positions - including left wing, right wing as well as a central attacking midfield option.

Mane’s agents reportedly visited the AXA Training Ground in order to ascertain their client’s next move. No doubt this would be an exciting signing if Liverpool managed to get it over the line ahead of Manchester United and others.

Anthony Gordon

And intriguingly there have been renewed links with Anthony Gordon. Don’t forget Liverpool came VERY close to landing their former schoolboy player back in 2024 when Newcastle were in big PSR trouble.

The 24-year-old ended up remaining on Tyneside - signing a new long-term contract - and has grown as a Premier League and Champions League star since then.

Gordon has netted 10 strikes in Europe this season - behind only Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League goal ranking - and has been starring for Eddie Howe’s side as a centre forward of late.

It’s been reported that Gordon would love the chance to join the Reds - and for many reasons this looks like a match made in heaven.

Gordon could be seen as an upgrade on Gakpo and he can also provide cover on the right and in the middle. He is a Scouser - which always helps the adaptation process - and comes with homegrown status into the bargain.

The biggest caveat is that with a new contract in the vault Gordon will come with an excessive transfer fee. One report suggests the Toon will ask for similar figures to what they received for Alexander Isak last year - a British record £125m.
