Fitzgerald Proposes College Football Calendar Changes

Michigan State football head coach Pat Fitzgerald outlined his proposed changes to the college football calendar during a recent podcast appearance with ESPN analyst David Pollack.

Fitzgerald, who recently took over as Michigan State's leader, suggested moving up the start of the season and implementing home playoff games similar to the NFL, FCS, and D2 levels. His plan also includes relocating the national championship game to January 1st and eliminating conference championship games.

The coach additionally recommended that bowl games be scheduled a week after the regular season concludes. These proposals come amid ongoing debate across college football about potential calendar reforms.
