Rams Push Rule Changes After Odd Two‑Point Play

Rams coach Sean McVay said the team wants to change how tipped backward passes are ruled, and to shorten booth review time, following a bizarre two‑point conversion in Week 16.

After a Week 16 two‑point attempt in Seattle that involved a tipped backward pass, Rams head coach Sean McVay announced a proposal to treat such plays as fumbles, preventing teams from advancing the ball when a defensive tip carries it past the line of scrimmage. The change would align the play with the “Holy Roller” rule that forbids advancing a fumble in similar situations.

McVay also called for a 40‑second limit on booth reviews to avoid lengthy delays, and suggested a reversal of the incomplete‑pass rule for backward passes that touch the ground and are recovered beyond the spot of the pass.
