Gambhir explains Samson's axing ahead of T20 World Cup

India head coach Gautam Gambhir explained that Sanju Samson was given a break after a tough bilateral series against New Zealand, dismissing concerns about his form despite his unbeaten 97 against the West Indies.

"Obviously, he had a tough series against New Zealand. So sometimes it's important to give him a break as well," Gambhir said. "We always knew the talent that Sanju had." Gambhir emphasized that the foundation for Samson's match-winning effort was laid during his brisk 24 off 15 balls against Zimbabwe, stating, "And this is what we expect from Sanju to do more consistently."
